A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian
4 journalers for this copy...
Dunno yet what this is about or whether it's any good. Will update when read.
Two sisters attempt to save their aged and eccentric Ukranian father (who is writing the eponymous Short History of Tractors) from an equally Ukrainian gold-digger nearly 50 years his junior, unearthing some long-buried family history along the way. Very enjoyable, funny in parts but also sad and quite thought-provoking in others.

At the meet.
Have been keeping my eyes open for this one.
Really enjoyed this. Not so much about tractors as about family relationships. The family in question is of Ukrainian origin (of course). An elderly father announces his impending marriage to a bombshell 50 years his junior and his two daughters have to put their differences aside to manage the crisis. Very entertaining, but also poignant at times. Think my mum will like this - I'll pass it on to her next.
Picked up at the Leeds Meetup last night, because Jane-Aire who I work with had mentioned she wanted to read it. I've already read it and loved it. So I'll be passing this on to Jane!
I pounced on this as soon as i saw it. Been on my to read list for ages. Have made a start and am enjoying it so far. Looking forward to a long train journey at the weekend to get it finished..

Enjoyed this very much, was funny and painfully close to the reality of family strife.
