As a fan of "The Girl Most Likely" when I saw this at Dymocks Indooroopilly I just had to pick it up (it is also a signed copy)

From the back cover:

Bubble Skirts
Transvision Vamp
Corkscrew perms.
'21 Jump Street'

It's 1989 and seventeen-year-old Rachel Hill is the girl most likely to succeed. And the girl most like to have everything under control... that is, until her dad invites Nick McGowan, the hottest boy at school, to live with them. Rachel worries, that it's Blue Lagoon waiting to happen. Her best friend Zoe is convinced it's a golden opportunity for lurve.

But sparks fly for all the wrong reasons. Nick immediately labels Rachel as a spoilt, uptight Huey Lewis groupie. Rachel dismisses him as a laxy, beetroot-loving Ramones fan. But a scret from Nick's past draws them together and makes the year Nick McGowan came to stay one Rachel will never forget.

Made a mistake when we went to the movies on Friday night and had to fill in two hours before the movie. I couldn't resist, so I started this book.....and finished it. Very easy quick read.

Once again Rebecca Sparrow has immursed us in 80's Brisbane. A couple of Brisvegas landmarks thrown in for good measure (Rocking Horse Records, Indooroopilly train station, Central Railway and the now defunct Shingle Inn).

Rachel is uptight, over-achieiving suck up school prefect, and like some of us eightys girl obsessed with 80's music and posters to cover the walls.

When the chocolate comes out she knows its bad news, then she finds out that Nick "has" to move in. She is bribed with the "good" room until Nick doesnt fit in her old bed, as she has to move back.

This was a very easy read with a deeper message than her previous book.

Started reading this on the train on the way home , I didn't finish it :) but read about 80 pages but had to stop as I kept giggling out loud and people were looking at me :) Maybe it's because Rachel is in grade 12 in 1989 and so was I, but I'm really enjoying this so far. I was never a Huey fan, I was more GunsnRoses and AC/DC then The News or WaawaaNee!

Talk about a quick read - one of two books I read during a very busy weekend! Not really my style, I read her first book when it was the Brisbane City Council book a couple of years ago. I like that they are set in Brisbane during I time I was also living here, but I find her being so neurotic a bit tiresome at times.
Thanks for sharing MadamMuck!
Book is on its way to Roelina today.

This really was a quick fun read. Such a goofy look at growing up in the 80's. :) Loved meeting some of the characters from 'Girl most likely' in their youth.

To be sent on its way for this bookring!

I thought that this book was ok but not great, I was about half way through before I actually began to enjoy it, I think that the start was very slow and the ending a bit quick. The storyline was good but i did not think it did justice for what it could have been.

Thank you MadamMuck for the opportunity to read this book, it was good for filling time!

I am now sending Rachel & Nick back home to Madam Muck.
