 A friend sent me this book as a gift - thanks so much! And thanks for the big packet of stamps, too. My mother will definitely enjoy getting all these stamps from Norway, and an extra bonus of several other countries.
The book sounds very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading it. The author is Norwegian, so I'll be counting this as my book from a Norwegian author in my attempt to read books by authors from every country in the Olympics.

I enjoyed this book. It gives the experience of the author, a Norwegian journalist, living with a family in Afghanistan for a while. She does not pull her punches but describes their family life fairly intimately. And as they're quite human, with their own foibles and conflicts, and are from a greatly different culture than she, the book is not always complimentary.
In fact, the head of the family is suing the author over this book, saying that it falsely portrays his family, besmirches their honor, and puts family members in danger with its descriptions of illegal and/or immoral behaviors.
