I've had this sitting on my bookshelf since the late 90s, having heard it serialised and read by the author on Radio 4. Owing to the extent of my TBRs I'm intending to send it out as a bookring and read it myself when I get it back.
Picked up in Medway YHA and about to be left in Hawkshead YHA (350 miles away). The book is a bit of a tome and without a unified story. It does have stories though - lots of them. Not really attached to each other but unified in a way. I found myself drifting a bit, reading bits a bit too quick to take things in but I also felt myself laughing out loud - a lot. I would say it is a good book if you don't take it too seriously. In a sentence its a good waste of time.
