This is the second book I have read by this author this month and I enjoyed both of them.
The Stone is a huge, hollowed out asteroid that suddenly appears in Earth's orbit. There are a number of different chambers and some are bigger on the inside than then the inside. As a group of scientists try to unravel the mystery, they only find more and more questions. But when they discover that the Stone was created in an alternate future and has finally journeyed home...and it's original builders may not be quite finished with it. Then they find texts that describe a terrible nuclear war that was fought on the alternative earth - can they avoid the same fate or has the Stones arrival assured them of the same doom!!
I really enjoyed reading this - good, hard SF that stretches your mind in new diections while keeping you entertained. It was so good that I found myself tearing up as the nuclear explosions hide the scientists view of their home! The only trouble I had was that the author suddenly acclerates the action towards the end in such a way that I honestly felt I had missed a couple of chapters. It changed direction so suddenly that I almost didnt keep up, but the ending was good and it won't stop me tracking down more by this author.
Hope you enjoy it.

This was epic Sci-fi and throughly enjoyable, with complicated physics and believable characters. I agree with dark-draco though the ending did feel a bit rushed. I'll defiantly be keeping an eye out for the sequel.
