Classic sci-fi dating back to 1953. Childhood's End on the surface is a story about the arrival of aliens on earth, and how they work to change the state of the world for the better. But there is much more to Clarke's masterpiece. As he did in 2001, Clarke adresses the larger issues of mans place in the universe. And how we may someday become much more than we are. He pulls back the curtains on both the gods and the devils while telling an engaging story that follows a handfull of characters over the span of one hundred years. In addition to being entertained, you may just gain some insight into the nature of being human.
