This book is the second book by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (aka Yarnharlot) following her first book, At Knit's End: Meditations for Women who Knit Too Much. I bought this book at Porter Square Books on the day she visited the area on her book tour. This copy is signed to me.

I was really excited to read this especially after seeing her speak as part of her new book tour. She is just as witty and engaging in real life as she is in her books. (And she has a really cute giggle.)

Yarn Harlot : The Secret Life of a Knitter is somewhat similar to At Knit's End : Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much in its light tone and easy reading quality. Instead of the "quote, anecdote, meditation" format though, this book is filled with short stories sorted by theme (eg. stash, projects, etc.), which leave you giggling. It is also aimed more at a knitting marker in its humor (if that seems possible).

This book is to be made into a bookring. As it has been signed by the author, I am asking that it be shipped with insurance. I am sorry for any inconvienence.

This book was waiting for me when I returned home from my 10-day long yarn crawl, I mean, vacation. I bought koigu to knit some beautiful socks because of the Yarn Harlot and her blog. Let's see what else I want to do after reading this book.
Oh, and omly, I can't believe you sent out an autographed copy. I will be very careful to insure it when it goes along.

Arrived in the mail today. I'll try to get it done quickly and on to Brookeworm :)

Journal Entry 5 by firrantello on Monday, July 24, 2006
This one reminds me a lot of At Knit's End in places. But, I suppose that's a good thing, since At Knit's End encouraged me to read this one as well :)
On to Knitting Rules! then I'll get them out to the next person.

Very much looking forward to reading this. Thanks omly!

I really loved this book. It picked up with the anecdotes in her first book At Knits End and provided us with the whole stories behind them, along with some new stories. Some were funny, others almost made me cry, but they were all things that a knitter can relate to. She's still a bit repetative in her writing, but you can see she's getting better book by book. She continues to be one of my favourite writers about knitting. Will send this along to WelshHelen this weekend.

Journal Entry 10 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, October 18, 2006
Arrived safely today. Thank you, Brookeworm. I have a few ring books waiting to be read but I'll probably be dipping into this one fairly soon :-)

Journal Entry 11 by WelshHelen from Ponthenri, Wales United Kingdom on Friday, December 22, 2006
What a brilliant book! It made me laugh but a couple of the stories also made me cry. She's such an excellent writer with a very easy style.

Thank you so much, omly, for sharing this bok and a huge apology that I've had it for so long. I'll be posting it recorded delivery to AnglersRest tomorrow.

Received this morning by recorded delivery; thanks for sending. I am just about to start the Knitting rules, which I have over the month (sorry!). I'll ring jump Yarn Harlot and the two books can travel together across the water to Ireland.

Journal Entry 13 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Sunday, January 7, 2007
I did indeed ring jump this book and loved it. There is the familiar feel of At Knits End, it is a very comfortable book to read, very humourous and full of interesting snippets and statements.

This will be off in the post on Tuesday 9th Jan, traveling with Knitting Rules to wyvernfriend in Ireland by Recorded Delivery (DT 1030 7203 5GB)

Journal Entry 14 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Tuesday, January 9, 2007
I went to the post office yesterday with the package for Ireland and the recorded delivery slip. It appears that Southern Ireland can not use the recorded delivery slip and is classed as Europe for packages. So,
back to the post office today with the correct label and as soon as I have posted I'll JE the tracking number.

Journal Entry 15 by AnglersRest from Teignmouth, Devon United Kingdom on Tuesday, January 9, 2007
On it's way to Ireland by International signed for.

Enjoy!

Journal Entry 17 by wyvernfriend from Lucan, Co. Dublin Ireland on Sunday, January 14, 2007
A fun series of articles about knitting and Stephanie's life as a knitter, scary in some places with her stash accumulation, a warning to those who are heading that direction!
