Knitting
7 journalers for this copy...
It's been ten months since Jack died, and Sandra, a tightly wound academic, copes with her grief by immersing herself in the history of textiles. When she and Martha, a gifted knitter, meet over an unconcious body on the footpath, the unlikely threads of their lives tangle into each other.
A lovely quick book to read. The language is eloquent and weaves the terminology of knitting easily through the story. Of course, the story is much deeper than just knitting but rather about the fabric and tension of our lives.
As the cover says "Friendship, grief and unexpected grace - a novel to gladden the heart."
A satisfying read that I'd like to share so PM if you are interested.
djt will be first.

Passed on to djt today to start the ring.
Received this book from Lisagt as the first one in the book ring.
I will read this as soon asI can and enable it to be sent on quickly to those who have shown interest.
I am returning 'Knitting" to Lisagt to pass on. I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story. As a knitter I could understand and feel the heart of the tale.Martha was a real character to me and I empathised with her the need to knit it right or unpull all the work.Lots of lovely images were conjured up for me to knit into the story.
Enjoy!!

Sent off today to cat207 to enjoy...
Arrived in today's mail. Thanks Lisagt. Loved the bookmark. Great idea!
I can't say I enjoyed this book - a bit too whimsical for me.
Although as Martha can knit a full-length dress without seams, and a horse, my S/O has suggested he could supply half a tonne of stainless steel wool so she could knit him a 1955 Volkswagen beetle, with an oval rear window, of course!
On to cathyinoz - enjoy.

Arrived safely in the post today ... along with three other rings GULP! The bookmark is looking great, I'll scout thru my boxes for a nice yarn to add. Thanks for posting this on. I'll get to it asap.
Now that's weird! I wrote a journal entry for this a week ago and now its not here. Gee, I hope I wrote it in the right book! I thought I did... I'm off on a bit of a check to make sure its not hiding in another book somewhere. If not I'll have to re-invent it. Anyhow thanks for sharing and it was posted on to the next person -- 30.06.06

Quite an interesting book. I felt quite distressed when Sandra is pressuring Martha. At times I wanted to strangle Sandra. I couldnt beleive someone so interested in textiles could be so clueless about the actual craft.
I enjoyed the characters of Martha and Cliff, flawed but wholesome people.
Will contact Lisa to pass this on.
Have posted this off.

This book seems to be lost in transit as I sent it out last September and sadly it still hasn't arrived...
This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.
All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.
It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.
