This children's picture book is short and has lovely illustrations. It has text in both English and French. I found the story a bit disconnected, though.

Update, Sept 2006:
I've given this book to my teenaged son who's studying French in school. I recently asked him about it, and he's wanting to share it with his French class so I'll wait a bit and see what happens. Thursday5 is interested in it when he's done.

Well, my son has returned the book to me finally. He made no comment about how or whether his class liked it - he's in that surly teenager phase. And he dislikes French class, although he's finally doing better in it. I'm willing to accept a certain amount of surliness as long as he's keeping up his school work. LOL.
I see that I didn't mention in my previous journal entry that Véronique Tadjo is from the Ivory Coast, and I'm counting this book toward The Olympic Challenge. I also counted it toward last year's 5-5-5 Challenge. Both of these involve reading books from around the world.
Anyway, I've got the book packaged up and ready to send off. Happy reading, Thursday5.

This delightful book arrived in the mail today. I am using it for the 5/5/5/ challenge and I look forward to reading it to my students. It fits in well with our curriculum.
