Carolina Isle
4 journalers for this copy...
Jude Deveraux has gone too far with this one. I'm willing to go along with "twin cousins" who look so much alike that nobody is suppose to tell them apart. I'm even willing to go along
with the crazy island where they trap visitors in an effort to get their money. But when she introduces not one, or two, but three children who are living on the island, and are "missing" from the mainland... and NOBODY is looking for them. That is too much. Their parents are dead, and the kids are picked-up and "adopted" by a crazy guy and his wife. Nobody says anything or does anything... there is no search... Come on Jude.... this part was just silly. Too over the top of sillyness for me.

Thanks so much for granting my wish! I love books set in the scenic Carolina low country (even if the actual storyline is a bit over the top)!
I agree, Lati2de! This book is not representative of the Jude Deveraux I know and love! Light romance are my preferred genre, and I expected to have fun with this one, especially since I have an affinity for the setting. Unfortunately, it was ridiculously hokey that I couldn't wait to get through it and move onto better reading material. The look-alike cousin switch was very confusing - I had trouble following along with whether the action taking place involved their real characters or their alter-ego. When the characters arrived on the "weird" island and gave up their identity switch, the story became marginally more interesting because of the mysteries to solve. But still...the book doesn't measure up to what we've come to expect from an author of Jude Deveraux's reputation and talent. And where was the romance???
