A Mystery Novel of Birth and Burial
The story begins in Hollywood, where a Dr. Peter Merritt is performing an operation on a famous actress. While he's operating, someone dressed in gown and mask shoots another doctor in the room and escapes easily. Merritt returns to his home in New York, where there's an attempt on his life. Two other people connected with the case are killed.

The CAVE entrance to the elevator is actually built so that it looks as though you are walking into a recessed cave area to get to the door. This pic shows the back side...which is so amazing in and of itself, because there is an aquarium with some fish as big as a person's arm or thigh that you can see as you ride up the elevator.
