A difficult book to read, because it is based on a true story, and certainly very close to too many other real life experiences of millions of children.
In the book Anna recounts the horror of sexual abuse by her step-father.
The blurb on the inside cover says:
"It's during her trip to Bloemfontein, late one night, that Anna remembers what her childhood was like. Why she used to call herself Silent Anna. How she couldn't tell anyone what her stepdad did to her - not her mom, not her best friend, Helena, not even her own father."
This book was originally written in Afrikaans, and has been translated by Marianne Thamm, well-known South African journalist. There is an appendix at the end with information on how to recognise and deal with childhood sexual abuse, as well as helplines to call in South Africa.
I want to pass this on to others.. but I'm not sure how & to whom, since it's such an emotional experience to read it.

Well I just finished reading this book and found it hard to put down - maybe because I could relate to Anna and what she went through. It was an emotional read, but well worth it. It actually helped me to understand things that happened to me when I was a little younger than Anna. Thanks for sharing this book with me.
This book will be headed to hostile17 as part of a trade pending address.
Mailed today to hostile17 as promised. Sorry it took me longer to mail it than planned but it is on it''s way now. Enjoy it.
Received in the mail today as a trade from queenfrog.

Sending out in awakeagains True Crime Headlines bookbox.
caught this one in the true crime bookbox
I really enjoyed this book although it was a very emotional read. It's sad that after everything that happens her stepfather is never arrested and is allowed to do the same things to her lil sister.
