To be read.

I get the feeling that this author's first language was pidgin English. I don't mind pidgin as dialogue if it's reasonably well done, but I prefer narrative/descriptive text in standard English.

This guy could really have used a good editor for sentences like these: "As he walked, the country road, he rubbed the ache in the small of his back." and "It was these people who were being sent to fight a war in a distant land that we had little hope of winning and would serve no purpose if we did."

I quit after about 40 pages.
