Audio book of the Booker Prize winning novel about a famed Australian outlaw. Some readers in the US had difficulty getting through the grammar and spelling used by the semi-literate main character in delivering his narrative. Hey - listening it to on tape makes that problem go away!
These tapes are being sent to Zeldesse in the Netherlands, who has agreed to then send them to Bookcrosser, another Netherlands reader.

Just found it in the mail. Thanx! It will go to Bookcrosser when I finish with it. I am looking forward to listening to the tapes in the car to and from work.
Wow, what a treat! It was great listening to this book in the car. When it started, I thought it would be depressing, because the end is so tragic, but it wasn't, it was beautiful. The raw poetic writings of a fierce and driven Australian. I can imagine it not always easy to read, but as an audio book, it was great! F..ing good even!
I'll send it on to Bookcrosser asap!
greetings, zeldesse

The parcel with all the tapes arrived this morning. Will write more later.
I finished listening to the tapes. It is not a happy story, far from it, but it is a very good book. The reading is excellent, it added an extra dimension.

I will bring it to the BX-meeting. If there are not any takers I will take it home again, because I don't want to release a box with 8 tapes entirely in the wild!

i was hoping to get my greedy little hands on this! if zeldesse and bookcrosser like it, that's quite a recommendation to me.
when the current ring books are read i'll be off to the attic, where the only working tape recorder/player in this house resides; in hopes of finding my old faithful walkman back in the meantime. (there's another tape book heading my way, so that search time would be well spent)
thanks all for your enthusiastic reviews - i'm much looking forward to hearing this book!

confined to the attic, i didn't have the patience to listen the entire book. it is well told though, and interesting enough for the listener to remain interested. it's just that i'm rather distracted nowadays.
i've found a good new home for it.

Shame on me! In a bag for almost 2 weeks, these enticing cassettes which I wheedled out of powerhouse's hands at nrrdgrrl's farewell party. And only now have I entered the BCID here.
My sincere apologies, but then do remember that I have just moved house and live in chaos. Gosh, moving is a nuisance, but the new house is making up for it.
Looking forward to listening to this Carey book in my new surroundings.
