This small paperback (cover not as shown) contains adaptations of three Edith Wharton stories: "The Other Two", "The Lady's Maid's Bell", and "Mrs. Manstey's View". The stories have been rewritten for English learners with a 3000-word vocabulary, but are still very similar to the originals.

"The Other Two" has been called one of her most perfect and most delightful stories.

"The Lady's Maid's Bell" is a confusing story because events are not explained to the reader. There is a useful discussion about it here. You can read more about Edith Wharton and her work at The Edith Wharton Society web pages.

I bought two copies of this book at a library sale at Turku University. You can track the journey of the other copy here.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

We were so sad to get to this town and find out that Pizza 67 had closed! Instead, we had a nice snack-lunch in Gamla Bakaríið (see picture), and I released the book in a newspaper rack near the entrance (picture in previous journal entry).

I found this book in a fish restaurant in Ísafjörður called "Tjöruhúsið". I caught this book last July and read it then. When I read the first two entries on this page, I thought It was a great coincidence that I had just arrived from Finland, last Saturday; from the airport of Turku. I´m going to leave this book at the faculty in Ísafjörður's primary school.

Well, this book was actually handed to me to read at the primary school in Ísafjörður by a fellow teacher. We had both just arrived back from a terrific trip to Finland where this book began its journey.I'm thinking of releasing it at the Teachers' College in Reykjavík where I'm going on an English course on Friday 15th September.
