Ice Candy Man

This was well written and I'd like to say I enjoyed reading it - but I found it too chilling and unsettling to use the word "enjoy". I'm glad I read it, and I found it educational. It was intense and disturbing to read about the inhumanity that can sweep across a people.
The book was about life during the split of India and Pakistan, and the author is from Pakistan. I read it as part of the Olympic Challenge in which I'm trying to read books from every country that participates in the Summer Olympics, by the next Summer Olympics in August 2008.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
RELEASE NOTES:
I left this on the front windowsill where free magazines and stuff usually are stacked. It was pretty empty today - they must have cleaned it up recently.
This is a lovely little cafe with delicious sandwiches and breakfast items, and a case full of tasty baked goods. It's nice that they clearly mark which items are vegetarian and vegan. This morning, I was just getting a cup of tea on my way to a nearby appointment.
Because the title contains the "food word" candy, and the "ice candy man" referred to is an ice cream or popsicle seller, I'm releasing this in honor of the Chef's Challenge.
Anyway, I hope this book travels and is enjoyed by future readers.
