Bought in charity shop as I love the film!

High Fidelity has long been one of my favourite films and given its faithfulness to the original text it's hardly a surprise that I adored the text version also! Hornby manages to write first person narrative in a refreshingly realistic way. It's almost as if you hear Rob's thoughts they way they would actually run through his mind - not in a 'narrative' focus way which works to move the plot on, but in a way that truly draws you into Rob's mind.

Hornby's ability to wind music into the story means that the story runs along with a soundtrack in your mind. No other writer I have come across is quite so able to take the meanings of music and deepen their books with them to such an extent.

I need to find a good home for this as I just loved it and hope that others will too.

Favourite line? "See where random acts of kindness get you? To f**king funerals, that's where."
