Band 6 hat mich wieder mit JKR und der Geschichte versöhnt, denn nach dem etwas langatmigen Band 4 und einem eher düsteren Band 5 hatte meine Potter-Mania ziemlich nachgelassen. Der Half-Blood Prince dagegen ist ein ganz tolles, spannendes, auch witziges Buch und wenn die Geschichte nicht kurz vor Schluss kippen würde, könnte man es als wirklich "schön" bezeichnen.

Nach dem Buch musste dann natürlich auch die Audio-Version her und die möchte ich nun auf Reisen schicken, damit noch viele Harry Potter Fans in diesen Genuss kommen.

Es handelt sich um die englische Ausgabe (nicht um die amerikanische!), Sprecher ist der unvergleichliche Stephen Fry.


Dies wird übrigens mein erster Ring und ich bin schon ganz hibbelig!

So, liebe Harry Potter Fans, es geht los! Ich komme gerade vom Briefkasten zurück - das Hörbuch ist jetzt auf dem Weg zur ersten Station, nämlich zu enitsirhc72.

Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, wie euch das Hörbuch gefallen wird, ich selbst war restlos begeistert und könnte es rund um die Uhr anhören! Stephen Fry liest außerordentlich gut, zwar ganz anders als Rufus Beck, vielmehr in einer sehr typisch englischen Manier, die bei diesem Buch aber passt wie die buchstäbliche Faust aufs Auge.

Habt viel Freude daran und schreibt mal, ob ihr ähnlich begeistert seid!

Ich liebe Stephen Fry, ich finde, er liest einfach toll. Den sechsten Harry Potter mag ich nach den für mich schwächeren beiden vorhergehenden Bänden auch wieder sehr, sehr gerne. Daher volle Punktzahl.

Update after I finished listening to it:
What a wonderful book to listen to! And I think that Stephen Frey is doing by far the best job reading all Harry Potter books . I have also listened to Jim Dale but he is soooo boring and his voice becomes so annoying after a while. Back to this book: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a wonderful book. Stephen Frey's interpretation of most characters is flawless. I particularly like how he reads Harry, Dumbledore, Snape, Ron and Hermione. One character that I don't like read by him is Tonks. I already couldn't stand the weird accent she got in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. But in that book she only appears at the beginning and at the end. Yes she's clumsy, yes she's weird and funny but that voice also makes her appear a bit (I'm sorry I have no better expression) retarded. And when I listened to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince I already knew of course how the story would end (having read the book) so I knew that Tonks was in secret in love and half together with Lupin, so having her with that voice I really couldn't get into any of the *drama* of the scene in the hospital wing at the end of the book in which one finally understands Tonks weird behaviour at the beginning of the book, i.e. she's in unhappily in love with Lupin.
Other than that Frey did a marvellous job again. Many scenes gave me the creeps, e.g. The scenes at the Gaunts house with Marvolo, Merope, and Morfin, or Spinner's End, or the one in the cave with Dumbledore's screems of agony when Harry had to force him to drink the poison that hid Horcrux. The question remains of course whether this was really Dumbledore speaking...

Yippeeeeh, the CD arrived today! Thanks to lady-liberty for sending it on the journey, and thanks to Geegal for sending it to me. I'm looking forward to listening to it and hope I'll understand everything as I haven't read the fifth volume of Harry Potter.

Update:
I really enjoyed listening to this book. However, I would advise people listening to it during car journeys rather not to listen to chapters 24 to 28 or 29 while driving - I really drifted into a totally different world and just hoped that nothing special on the road would come up...

I liked Stephen Fry's reading style also very much and particularly enjoyed his Loona (is she spelt like this?), especially when commentating that Quidditch match. In the story I also liked how magic has now become something so normal for Harry and his friends that in some lessons it is just gets a minor disturbance from conversations about more important things - these matter-of-fact-descriptons really are hilarious!

I really wonder now what the seventh and last Harry Potter will be like and hope that it will be possible to get an English audio version read by Stephen Fry when it's out!

This MP3 was my constant companion during the last fortnight whenever I had to do some housework or other non-thinking jobs. And I really enjoyed it. I liked Stephen Fry as a reader very much (his English is just adorable) although I think I know what Geegal means about Tonks. As I see it, there are quite a few characters, most of them female, who turn out a bit exaggerated or even parodistic. More often than not that may be fitting, but depending on how serious you take a character it might come across as a bit annoying.

As to the story: hurry up, Ms Rowland; I am really dying to learn about how all this will end.

I'm really sorry to keep the CD for such a long time, but somehow I forgot it cmpletely after returning from Christmas holidays :-( I'm not yet finished with listening to it, but I think I already kept it long enough, so I made a copy of it and will complete the journal entry later.

But my first impression is also that I like the reading by Stephen Fry better than the one in the American version :-) so thanks again to lady-liberty for that ring! And me too, I really like the story of this book and I'm looking forward to the 7th sequel...

I already have campsy's adress, I'll send the CD to her in a few days when she is back from from vacation.

Die CD ist bei mir angekommen, juhu! Freu mich schon darauf, meinen kaum vorhandenen british accent an Harry Potter zu schärfen. By the way (um mal ein bißchen OT zu werden) war ich kürzlich in London, wo überall Plakate für so eine very strange Bühnenshow called Equus rum hingen, bis mich meine sister darüber aufgeklärt hat, dass das auf dem Poster Daniel Radcliffe ist, der süße kleine Harry Potter. Nein, war ich shocked! Wäre ich nur ein bißchen richer und posher wäre ich natürlich länger da geblieben und hätte die Premiere miterlebt (dann wäre ich auch noch Christian Slater begegnet *seufz*). ... Stephen Fry is brilliant! How he changes the characters with his voice is much better than the reader of the german translation Rufus Beck does (this is my sisters opinion, and after I finished listening I have to agree)! Although I already read the book, I was totally moved by the plot.

I strived to finish this audiobook before visiting my sister in Berlin this weekend, because she has the seventh and last book of the series. Can hardly wait ...

Habe Harry gestern zu Ende gehört, wobei mir dann erst aufgefallen ist, dass ich ja gar keinen Eintrag gemacht habe! Huch.

I finished Harry yesterday and I loved it. I knew the Story before, of course, and it's not as charming as the first three books, but still far better than Nr. 4 & 5.

But even if the plot were the dumbest I can think of - Stephen Fry would be worth listening.

Heute sicher bei mir angekommen... Muss sich nun aber bis zum Wochenende gedulden...

Die ersten 5 Hörbücher von Harry Potter kenne ich nur auf deutsch von Rufus Beck, da war die Messlatte natürlich extrem hoch gesteckt und wurde trotzdem nicht enttäuscht. Da ich die "wirklichen" Bücher alle auf englisch gelesen habe, habe ich diesem Hörbuch auch mal eine Chance gegeben und war verblüfft wie deutlich der Sprecher spricht und wie leicht es dadurch ist der Geschichte zu folgen. Für mich bleibt Rufus Beck der Harry Potter Sprecher, aber hätte ich Stephen Fry früher kennengelernt, wäre er zu einer ernsthaften Konkurrenz geworden. Absolut empfehlenswert, aber nur wenn man auch auf britische Aussprache steht :)

What everybody else has said is true: Stephen Fry does an excellent job reading these books. He does it exactly the way I would do it if I could, pretty much turning the audiobook into a play. On the other hand, the book is also extremely well suited to being read aloud. It's almost as if J.K. Rowling anticipated the series would be made into audiobooks.

Of all the characters, I think I like Stephen Fry's Hagrid best. Maybe that's because he's of a similar stature ;), but I keep thinking he *is* Hagrid rather than just portraying him.

The book will travel on to Leseschaf as soon as I make it to the post office.

Stephen Fry did a great job. I loved listening to this audiobook. As you all have said a lot more about this reading I don't do any more and hope to send the book travelleing asap
Edit: only thing I really don't like: the tracks were very long. Why can't they make a stop every five to ten minutes instead of every 30 - 45?

Da ich wohl die Letzte in der Liste bin, habe ich auch dieses Hörbuch gestern endlich an Lady-Liberty zurückgegeben.

Das Buch hatte ich ja gelesen und auch das deutsche Hörbuch gehört... und ich muss sagen, mir gefällt der Sprecher sehr! Er liest so ganz anders als Rufus Beck (den ich auch absolut Klasse finde), und es passt einfach :)

Harry Potter ist gestern wieder zu Hause angekommen - vielen Dank allen MithörerInnen, dass ihr seine Reise nicht unterbrochen, aufgehalten oder gar zum Stillstand gebracht habt! Ich weiß das sehr zu schätzen, denn gerade hängt meine zweite Box und muss wohl als verschollen deklariert werden, wenn nicht noch ein Wunder geschieht.

Nicht so hier, Harry ist wieder da, wenngleich ich sagen muss: Er hat sich verändert. Kann es daran liegen, dass ich ihn eine ganze Weile nicht gesehen habe. Aber verändern Hörbücher im Laufe der Zeit ihr Äußeres, so wie aus Kindern langsam Jugendliche werden? Dieses Rätsel wird sich nicht lösen lassen und nachdem er offenbar vollständig eingetroffen ist (sogar in Begleitung, um genau zu sein), will ich es dabei bewenden lassen, denn auf Äußerlichkeiten kommt es ja in diesem Falle wirklich nicht an.

Harry reiht sich jetzt erstmal in die allgemeine Hörbuch-Sammlung ein und wer weiß, vielleicht packt ihn später nochmal die Reiselust?
