Journal Entry 1 by herbwench from Millbury, Massachusetts USA on Tuesday, April 04, 2006
You DO NOT need to put the same books in that you took out before! You DO need to take out any books you put in the last time if they are still there when it returns to you and replace them with different titles. Example: You received the box, took out 4 books & put 4 in. When the box returns to you 1 of the books you put in is still in there. Take that out & any others you want & replace with an equal number of books. This insures that the same books are not cycling around and around, especially if they are titles no one wants! A complete list of books in the box and who put them there is located in post #2 below. Please check the list before mailing the box off to make sure you have removed any of your left-over books. THANKS! The box cannot have more than two books from the same series in it at one time. This is to help keep things as diverse as possible. No Sue Grafton, Mary Higgins Clark, Anne Perry, Janet Evanovich, Sharyn McCrumb, Ellis Peters, Candace Robb, romantic suspense or "thriller" type books! Please check publication dates as there are NO books published before 2000 allowed. PLEASE DO NOT overload the box with books! To keep mailing costs low 15-17 books maximum is the limit & NO hardcovers please. Please post the titles of the books you take out & what you've put in. Then mail the box off to the next person within 7 days of receiving it. This keeps it moving along in a timely fashion. If you need longer, please just let me know. Thanks! When mailing, please use delivery confirmation on the box! If you choose not to use it and the box "goes missing" you will be expected to replace the books with an equal amount from your own collection. I'm sorry to do this, but I've had people claim to have mailed a box off when they really haven't. Using DC will prevent this issue from happening. Thanks. You are welcome to drop out at any time as long as you are not holding the box when you do so. Just pm me to let me know. IF YOU WANT TO BE SKIPPED IN A ROUND YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE PERSON SENDING TO YOU TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS! DON'T ASSUME THEY WILL CONTACT YOU BEFORE SENDING!!! Journal Entry 5 by MmeClinton from South Berwick, Maine USA on Thursday, June 08, 2006
Not to worry, I have the wonderful book box! Although my daughter was home yesterday, the letter carrier did not knock but just left a slip for me to pick it up at the P.O..... I think he knows my schedule and knew I would be at school... or my Newfie looked too scary on the porch... or it was too wet out, who knows (more flooding in York County Maine this week!). I am like a kid on Christmas morning and will need a day or so to pick only two books, because I have only two to put back in! Sniff! However, the perpetual idea is so cool. I am leaving for France Wed June 14th and will be sure to mail the box back to HERBWENCH before I go. I'll be back home on July 11th, so there should not be a problem with it coming around again before I return! Look for a new entry once I take a break from grading final exams and writing grade reports so I can reward myself with new mysteries!

Thank you, Herbwench, for the excellent work you do on the Cozy Boxes! It's on its way back to you later today!

The good news...and the lameo news...I took the box to be mailed today - confirmation #0305 1720 0001 0641 9597, and I got home all proud of myself for handling another item before we leave for vacation...and I see the instructions for said box on my desk. Sigh. I can send it to loneflower tomorrow to be a day behind the box, if need be.

Journal Entry 12 by MmeClinton from South Berwick, Maine USA on Tuesday, August 29, 2006
It is such a joy to receive this box... this time I cannot do much, as my summer reading was not in the right areas.... I can only take out and replace two (how DO you all get so much done? I think I do a lot of other mad reading....) Anyway, I am removing: A Cat of a Different Color Death in Paradise and I am putting in: Death by Darjeeling Monsieur Pamplemousse Investigates I'll send Herbwench the Delivery confirmation # after I send the box off. I have had to put the original box inside another, because the additions over the last round were more numerous and bulky than what was taken out (in other words, the books didn't fit!). The instructions sheet is missing. But I think I have done what was expected! Happy reading!

I sent this box last week (during the time I moved). I forgot to get delivery confirmation--I'm really sorry, but it slipped my mind. Thanks!

Journal Entry 15 by SCOUT-FINCH from Sherman Oaks, California USA on Monday, November 13, 2006
OK, guys, I'm not sure what's going on here, and I'm not going to point any fingers, but in this box there are three sets of books (2 by an author in the same series). This is not OK per the rules that herbwench set up..(see original post). Perhaps you did this to be generous, but personally I feel the box gets bogged down this way, and there's not enough diversity for a box that's starting to weigh a lot.. Just my two cents, YMMV!

Journal Entry 17 by SCOUT-FINCH from Sherman Oaks, California USA on Wednesday, November 22, 2006
It's outta here!! So sorry for delaying the box - I have been laid up for almost a week with The Creeping Crud as my childhood best friend's mom would so poetically put it. I didn't want to share the joy with the innocent folks in the Post Office so close to Thanksgiving. But having been given the all-clear by my doc today, I took said box to the PO and it's off to loneflower. DC# 0306 1070 0002 1283 1635 Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!!!

Journal Entry 20 by MmeClinton from South Berwick, Maine USA on Wednesday, December 13, 2006
I have received the Cozy Box! I am taking out: Chile Death Cooks Overboard Revenge of the Wrought-Iron Flamingos Chocolate Frog Frame-Up No Use Dying Over Spilled Milk Monsieur Pamplemouse Investigates and I am putting in: Bloody Bonsai Murder by Owl Light The Flower Master Owls Well that Ends Well Murder with Puffins A Gift of Sanctuary So many I wanted, but I just don't get through that many books in between (at least I read other books than cozies....). It may have begun with 10 to 12 books, but now there are 20, and I had to take back one of mine, which is a tad disappointing. I think a book runs a greater risk of not being selected when the number of books grows. Oh well. SOme I really would have liked to read, but they won't make it around again! I hope to get this repackaged and mailed out next MOnday; I am swamped with midyear exams and other responsibilities that prevent me from getting to the Post Office before then!

This box fittingly arrived on Halloween. Sooo happy to see some unusual pickins - installments of lesser known writers' series, like Kate Gallison and Patricia Sprinkle. Hopefully whatever I put in will be unusual to someone else! More on that later...

OK, I'm ready here - somehow I got herbwench's Bookbox #3 on the same day - Halloween - clearly someone is playing a trick on me, to send me so many treats on one day... I am taking out: The Killing Bee by Matt Whitten(Jacob Burns) no one picked it in this round The Alpine Pursuit by Mary Daheim A Mystery Bred in Buckhead by Patricia Sprinkle Devil's Workshop by Kate Gallison Dead Man Running by Rett McPherson and I'm putting in: Death Splits a Hair by Nancy Bell (Judge Jackson Crain) Tortoise Soup by Jessica Speart (Rachel Porter) The Dog Who Knew Too Much by Carol Lea Benjamin (Rachel Alexander and Dash) A Score to Settle by Donna Huston Murray (Ginger Barnes) Sorrow's Crown by Tom Piccirilli (Felicity Grove) I will try to get to the Post Office as soon as possible. My (elderly, sick for some time) Mother-in-Law passed away yesterday and we are making arrangements for the service.

I have been on vacation for the last 10 days, and I don't know when the box actually arrived here, but here it is indeed, safe and sound! I always am quite excited when it arrives and jealous of all the titles I didn't get to nip! Anyway, here are my take-outs and put-ins; I expect to get this to the Post Office tomorrow and will send the DC info afterwards! Am taking out: Nursery Crimes A New Leash on Death Fool's Puzzle Dead Hot Mama Am putting in: A Dash of Death Murder in Little Italy Murder Between the Covers Dim Sum Dead I don't think the copy of Owls Well that Ends Well is the one that I put in a long time ago, but I'll check it against my bookcrossing files and if it is, I'll take it out and add something else and update. For now, just needed to get the list down!

Journal Entry 61 by herbwench from Millbury, Massachusetts USA on Tuesday, April 01, 2008
I received this at least a week ago but have been dealing with some heavy stuff here so didn't get a chance to journal it until now. I'm going to need a few weeks to get myself organized and get this back out again. If I make any changes to the rules I'll post them in the first post here (I may change the earliest date of books that can be put in to help keep things fresh) I also need to track down the addresses of a few new participants. I have no idea what I'll take out/put in since the box is still sitting here unopened! Once I know that I'll do an update. Thanks all.

Ok, I have the mailing order set for the next round. I decided to do it in a totally random order to shake things up a bit and make it more interesting. I know it gets boring receiving from/sending to the same person all the time! If anyone does NOT wish to continue on with the box please pm me before the middle of this week so I can take you off the list. Also, for those of you who are no longer in the box but are still receiving the emails every time someone makes a JE feel free to go in and delete all your journal posts so you won't be notified any longer. That said, a few changes you need to know about: The earliest date allowed for books being added to the box has changed to 1999. That still gives us 9 years worth of cozies to choose from & helps to eliminate the older books that most of us have read. Also, please don't put books in that are falling apart. Books should be in decent shape with no pages loose, missing or falling out. Also, if they are encrusted with unidentifiable crud don't add them to the box. Put it this way, if you couldn't pass it along to a used book store or book swapping site then don't add it to the box. No, the books don't need to be perfect. They are used after all, but they should be in decent enough shape that the person who takes them can pass them along if they want to. THANKS! As always, if you want to know what books are in the box, check the second JE here. I keep this list updated with titles, authors and who put them in the box. Mailing Order: Totally random this round!!! nursiegirl42-MO elsi-TX etmandm-GA gothamgal-OH imabookfantic-NY ramson-LA loriped-OR SCOUT-FINCH-CA MmeClinton-ME TribeFan-OH wss4-FL herbwench-MA I'm taking out: A Score To Settle, Death Is A Cabaret, Digging Up Trouble & Snipped In the Bud I'll update this when I know what I am putting in. Putting in: The Trouble With Witches by Shirley Damsgaard (herbwench) The Trouble With Magic by Madelyn Alt (herbwench) Murder Is A Girl's Best Friend by Amanda Matetsky (herbwench) On the Slam by Honor Hartman

Hello All- There have been some problems this round with people saying they didn't know the box was coming, they wanted to be skipped but the person mailing never pm'd them, etc. So I thought I should reiterate this rule: IF YOU WANT TO BE SKIPPED IN A ROUND YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE PERSON SENDING TO YOU TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS! DON'T ASSUME THEY WILL CONTACT YOU BEFORE SENDING!!! The box has always worked this way and will continue to do so. Addresses are included in the box to simplify things and remove the necessity of pming someone, waiting for their response, etc. All the pming just leads to delays in the box being sent out.

Hello all- Sorry for the LONG delay in getting the box sent out again. Right now the economy is making even simple things like sending a box of books seem like a luxury!!! Anyway, I'm getting it ready to go out again and will be updating the books in there, the mailing order, etc. If anyone wants to be dropped from the box PLEASE send me a message ASAP. Otherwise I'll assume you still want to be included. I'll post again when I send the box on it's way.
