I bought this book from a used bookstore online. It's a hardcover with a plastic-covered dust jacket, in good condition.

It contains short stories written by an author from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Some of these stories were very short - really more like scenes or vignettes from a longer story. Interesting, though, and enjoyable.

I'm forming a bookray to share this book with anyone who'd like to read it.

Bookray Guidelines:

  1. Journal the book when you get it. Contact the next person in the list for their mailing address.
  2. When done, take a minute to journal your impressions and note that you're sending the book on. I love reading various people's feelings on books - we're bound to have different viewpoints.
  3. Yes, sometimes “life happens”. If you find yourself running behind or need to be skipped, etc., please PM me letting me know what’s up and we can work it out.
  4. At the end of the ray, please do what you wish with the book - begin another ray or ring, wild release, or whatever.

Participants (username /location/shipping):

  • Hobbit /US/international (originator)
  • Piggeldy /Germany
  • lunatum /Finland/international
  • Katyan /Finland/international (but Europe if possible)
  • Sheepseeker /Germany/Anywhere

Book reached the end of this ray with Charlenemartel, who is free to do as she likes with this book - begin another ring or ray, or keep it, or wild release, or whatever. Enjoy!

Sent this morning to Piggeldy. I used surface mail - sorry, I was sending out 5 rays at once and was feeling too cheap to send them all by air.

Journal Entry 5 by Piggeldy from Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Saturday, July 8, 2006
The book arrived here safely, but there's another quite thick book ahead (400 pages in very small print...). I'll try to read these short-stories "in between" somehow.

Edit, July 29th: I have to admit that I haven't read all of the stories; I think it were about ten, picked out at random - they were quite nice, but as I don't have the time to read more, I'll send the book off to Finland on Monday!

Journal Entry 6 by lunatum from Savukoski, Lappi / Lappland Finland on Friday, August 25, 2006
The book had arrived while I wasn't home, so that's why this late journal.

I read all the stories, but I didn't really like all of them. This book will be part of my Book From Every Country -challenge (United Arab Emirates).

Next this book will travell to Katyan.

This book arrived to me today! Oh, I have so many books to read for this challenge... I hope to get this read in time... :)

I found the stories of this book easy to read, most of them were delightening, especially the one where a little girl went to see circus with her father. I enjoyed reading this book, it was interesting to read work by author from Dubai. Thank you for sharing it, it will travel to sheepseeker soon!

Journal Entry 10 by Sheepseeker from Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Saturday, October 14, 2006
The book arrived already last week, when I was away to work at the world's largest bookfair in Frankfurt. It was fun but at the same time very exhausting...
So when I came home and found this book together with a chocolate bar and a bookcrossing batch
:)), I was really happy. They were supposed to greet me at the new home we moved to in the end of September. So these presents served to purposes at the same time...

Thanks so much, katyan!

I already started reading and it won't belong until the book travels on!

Journal Entry 11 by Sheepseeker from Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Monday, October 16, 2006
Thanks to bookcrossing I've become very fond of short stories. These ones were a really good read, some humorous and witty, some a bit mean and full of black humour. I enjoyed most of them and also especially liked the one with the girl and her father at the circus.
Thanks a lot for the ray, hobbit!

I will check with charlenemartel if she wants to read it, if not, I'll find a good place for it :)

Edited on 10/28/06 to say that the book is on its way to charlenmartel!

I was excited to see this in my mailbox - so un-expected!
I enjoyed the stories I read and its time to pass it on to somebody else who enjoyed international reading. on its way to a new home.

Journal Entry 14 by Annimanni from Espoo, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Saturday, July 19, 2008
Arrived while I was on holiday, thank you very much! Curiously enough, I received two copies of the same book so this one is already available.

Ed. 23 July
I'm taking the book to the Helsinki meetup today hoping someone will pick it up.

Journal Entry 15 by VariC from Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin Germany on Wednesday, July 23, 2008
I'm always interested in reading books from cultures unfamiliar to me, so I picked this one up right away at the meetup.
