Journal Entry 1 by Iojima from Nyons, Rhône-Alpes France on Saturday, April 01, 2006
From the back cover: Amy Tan's fiction has always been informed by her experiences and her heritage. Now, in this remarkably candid insight into her life, Tan turns, for the first time, to non-fiction. She takes us on a journey from her childhood, as a sensitive but intelligent yong Chinese American, ashamed of her parents's Chinese ways, to the present day and her position as one of the world's best-loved and bestselling novelists. Love Amy Tan and love essays -- what could be better?

Journal Entry 3 by revcarolyn from Greenville, South Carolina USA on Tuesday, June 27, 2006
This book was "tossed" to me by the proprietor of L'Ecole de la Combe bed and breakfast in France. I love Amy Tan, both her writing style and her insights into the obvious and not-so-obvious implications of our respective cultures. I thoroughly enjoyed her honest, revealing essays in this book. I am now passing it on to my daughter, who has chronic Lyme Disease (Tan describes her own experience with Lyme in her final essay). CAUGHT IN REMUZAT RHONE ALPS FRANCE
