Flu : The Story Of The Great Influenza Pandemic

Excellent, scholarly, compelling book about the Flu pandemic of 1918. It was riveting.
This book is on its way to Badgerjim. I hope you enjoy it!
Sorry it took me this long to journal it--my wife had put it away on a bookshelf and I couldn't find it! Thanks for sending it to me. I'll get to it this summer. It's written by a prominent science writer for the New York Times.
I'd hoped for a greater emphasis upon the events of 1918 itself; this book mainly uses 1918 as a backdrop for the main focus of the book--the scientific research going into the 2000s to find out what happened. Still, this was a very well written book--Kolata's style brings in relevant science without being too overwhelming or dull for most of the book. I enjoyed it and read it quickly--thanks again for sending it! And next, my wife's review...
My wife also found the book very interesting and read it quickly--in fact, she enjoyed it even more than I did! She thought my rating was too conservative. This is her rating.
"Flu" is on its way south! (I'll put this in the "Keep Them Moving" challenge).
Arrived in the mail a couple of days ago. DH brought the mail in, and I was already in bed and started reading immediately and forgot to log it in. I'll be sending this one along on its journey just as soon as I get through reading it. Thanks, badgerjim!
What a murder mystery! I was hanging on until the last page. (Took it to work with me today because I just HAD to finish it.) A page-turner...and, yes, I was expecting it to be more about what actually happened back then, and it did tell a good bit about what happened. But it turned into something else as we followed the trail of what happened afterwards...up until they found the killer.
(Talk about a mass murderer!)
Thanks so much for letting me read this book, Badgerjim. Now to find who it goes to next...
?? Do I have that somewhere??

Oh, my goodness. I thought I had already mailed this when I found it in my guest room this morning. I devoured every word of it so I could get it into the mail, and then forgot.
Sorry. But it is in the capable hands of the USPS now.
Thanks again for the chance to read it.

Just received this in the mail. Thanks to Baton Rouge and BadgerJim!! I am looking forward to reading this as I am always interested in medical/plague stuff. Will update soon.
Thanks BadgerJim! A great book for anyone interested in Plagues, such as myself. It especially hit home as I have several relatives who died in 1918 from this flu. I will be releasing this one into the wild for some other medical mystery-lover to find and enjoy.
