"Nadolig Llawen i Mr. Magnus Jetne, oddiwrth Charlotte a Dafydd Miles. Dydd Nadolig 1949."

("God jul til hr. Magnus Jetne, fra Charlotte og Dafydd Miles. Første juledag 1949.")

Findabair brough this to meetup today. I think this is one of those classics that everybody ought to read, so I decided to take it home with me, dedication and all. :-)

I started reading this book today. Didn't get very far though, I've mostly just read the introduction. :-) I'll write more when I've read the rest of the book.

I finished this book today.

It was an interesting read, although I can't say it charmed me entirely. :-) All those names ... !! I eventually gave up even trying to keep all the supporting characters apart. And of course the stories are quite repetitive, because that's the way these stories are, no matter where in the world they come from. Which in itself is quite interesting. But as I read the book in 'big bites' I have to admit I got a little bored with it eventually. Shame on me. :-( But I think I might have enjoyed the book even more if I had read it in smaller helpings, so to speak. :-)

But it was definitely an interesting read though. Fascinating to see how the Celtic and Norse myths are related. And fun to read some real Arthur stories. :-) I'm glad I got the chance to read it ... and in such a lovely edition too. I love the dedication ... which is written in a beautiful hand, and with a fountain pen, I think. I love books with a history like that. :-) Not sure what to do with the book now ... but I'm sure there's someone out there who will want to read these ... forerunners to fairy tales, basically. Lo! I shall find such a champion ere long!

Thanks again, Findabair! :-)

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

I was thinking of offering this as a RABCK or a Ray It Forward on the forums, but lunacia was interested in it at meetup today. I hope she will be entertained! :-) And what's to say it can't be a RIF one day when she's read it ... ;-)

Happy reading!!

I lived in Wales for a short period when I was a student, so when this book appeared at the meetup yesterday, I thought it would be a fun read. Not quite sure when I'll find the time, but I think it'll be nice. ;)
