A friend of mine recently posted how much he was enjoying some Grisham, so when I found a bunch at the thrift store today, I thought it would make a good "welcome to the States" gift!

Thanks, Ant!

I've just finished this one, and I have to say that reading these books has been made even more pleasant knowing that they were a lovely gift.

I've got one to go - The Street Lawyer - and then I might read someone else for a while!

This book started off with two widely separated story lines and I couldn't for the life of me see where they were going.

Clever, but I can't say that I was entirely happy with this plot.

Thank you Katweeble! I had a lovely NSS Santa Surprise parcel which I opened early today *blushes* I'm leaving Switzerland for England and the extra parcels just won't fit in my luggage :-)

I got Neil Gaiman "Smoke and Mirrors"
this book and most importantly a chocolate orange - hurrah!

Many thanks again

Waves to friends Antof9 (who I've met) and Skyring (who I haven't, but feel as though I should!)

Trumble, a minimum security federal prison, home to the usual assortment of criminals--drug dealers, bank robbers, swindlers, embezzlers, tax evaders, two Wall Street crooks, one doctor, at least four lawyers.

And three former judges who call themselves The Brethren: one from Texas, one from California, and one from Mississippi. They meet each day in the law library, their turf at Trumble, where they write briefs, handle cases for other inmates, practice law without a license, and sometimes dispense jailhouse justice. And they spend hours hatching schemes to make money.

Then one of their scams goes awry. It ensnares the wrong victim, an innocent on the outside, a man with dangerous friends, and The Brethren's days of quietly marking time are over
