This edition, with additional material, is a brilliant combination of teen-aged angst and excellent writing. Cooped up for 2 years without the usual gaggle of girlfriends to share new feelings, confusions and rages, everything goes into the diary. As a developping writer barred from the world at large, she turned a fine eye for detail on the minutiae of daily living in her annex hideaway. That almost everything she saw was seen as a part of the drama that was Ann paints a more realistic view of a bright and difficult adolescent than the original version that I read many years ago. A child who it is even harder to part with.
