This contemporary vampire romance may lack the violence, intensity and eroticism typical of the subgenre, but bestseller Ashley (After Sundown) still delivers an exciting plot and a heroine who can kick ass with the best of them. A killer is draining green-eyed redheads of their blood in the Midwestern town of Pear Blossom Creek, and 22-year-old Victoria Cavendish knows she should be leery of mysterious men like Antonio Battista, who orders food he never eats at the diner where she waitresses, then disappears into thin air. In fact, Antonio is a 600-year-old vampire. While an obsessive, yellow-eyed vampire stalks Vicki and a vampire hunter remains convinced Antonio's the killer, the innocent smalltown girl and Antonio fall in love. Even if they can survive the danger, what will happen to their love? A ghost living in Antonio's isolated Spanish castle provides additional paranormal flair, and a secondary romance between the vampire hunter ready to retire his stake and Vicki's best friend round out the story

FINALLY I am posting a whole lot of promised books to people overseas. PHEW!

This book was promised to the last person, before it was put on a ray, so it must finish with her. (I forgot it was on bookray)

Journal Entry 4 by Rianonne from Wien Bezirk 22 - Donaustadt, Wien Austria on Wednesday, June 7, 2006
Woohoo, another of Woosang's books arrived in Vienna!!
Sadly there are some other rings infront of this one *sigh* (which doesn't mean in any way that I'm not eager to read the other rings LOL) Therefore it may take some time till I come around to reading it but I do my best that it will be as soon as possible!!

I was really surprised how much I liked this vampire novel by Amanda Ashley :)
It's romance and vampire story is well balanced - not too much sex and not too dark but still something for the heart and the creepy - and kept me reading for 2 days. The ending is a bit too touching into the romance aera but Ashley has to humour her readers, right ;)
Somewhere I read that it is a follow-up of "After sundown" ... !?

Aaaaaaahhhhh! I'm being swamped with wonderful bookrings at the moment!!! LOL
This will have to go to Mount TBR Bookrings for awhile...

This book confirmed it: Amanda Ashley is simply not an author for me. Her writing is way too sappy, too heavy on the romance side for me. Not enough action for my taste and the characters are so goody-goody that I want to slap them... I decided to not finish reading this book, since I have so many other exciting books waiting for me, that I do not want to waste my time with something I don't like. Hopefully the others like this book better!

Thanks for sharing anyways!

I already got oisec's address and will post the book her way next time I get to the post office.

Thanks for doing the bookray, woosang!
Thanks for sending it to me, Morgaine77!

I'm about half way through with the book and so far I enjoy it, though some of the characters can be pretty stupid at times ;-) I hope to be able to finish it till Monday so that I can send it right on. It's about time, I think.

Oct 15, 2006:
22-year old Victoria Cavendish works as a waitress in a small town. One should suspect this would be a rather safe place, but there's a serial killer on the loose who drains his victims of their blood. He kills only red-haired, green-eyed women - and Vicky has red hair and green eye. When she first meets Antonio Battista, she is fascinated right away, but is he who he pretends to be? And who is the second stranger in town?
I enjoyed the book a lot, despite a few rather unrealistic scenes. It was full of suspense, romance and a paranormal aspect. The balancing was great, as well. I sure would recommend this book and I think I'll get myself some of Ashley's other books as well.

thanks, this arrived today... still a few books to read ahead of it, but will start on it within the next few weeks. since it's going to needsun, I'll probably have a couple other books to send to her at the same time too.

Journal Entry 13 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Monday, December 4, 2006
Like Morgaine, I had trouble getting into this initially and thought I might not be able to finish it as I too don't like too much romance in my books. It was really kind of sappy and I get sick of hearing about how gorgeous Antonio was, and how blue his eyes were, and how black his hair was, and so on... But I plodded on, wanting to make it at least halfway through as I haven't yet read anything else by this author, and sometime after the 100th page or so, it got a little more interesting. At this point, the vampire Falco, who was killing various redheads in the town of Pear Blossom Creek, revealed himself to Vicki, which added an element of danger. Sure, there was still a lot of sappy romance, but it was lessened somewhat by the rest of the action finally starting to happen.

So as Falco stalks Vicki, intending her to be his next victim, Antonio has sworn his life to protect her. At first, she doesn't know he's a vampire, but once she finally finds out, partially through the Vampire Hunter Duncan who's sweeped into town, and partially through Antonio's own admission and actions, she's not sure how she feels about the idea. But the fact that his kisses have stirred something in her that she's never felt before keeps her from running in the other direction. Besides, he seems to be the only one who can protect her from Draco.

Overall, a fairly decent read, and once the action started happening, it was harder to put down. The strong romance aspect makes it not my usual cup of tea though, so I'm not sure whether or not I'll seek out additional books by this author since I've got so much other reading on my plate.

This will be headed off to NeedSun shortly. (I'll update this entry with more info when it's sent.)

UPDATE 23-DEC-2006: Mailed to NeedSun on 26-Dec-2006 via Airmail Letter Post.

This book arrived sometime last week. Thank you to Woosang for starting this bookring and to Cherie for sending this book to me and for the wonderful bookmark.

Journal Entry 15 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Wednesday, February 28, 2007
This was the third of a trilogy and definitely the best of the three. It could stand alone but I enjoyed knowing the background of some of the people mentioned. Definitely more romance than vamp.

Thanks very much for organizing this bookray, Woosang. Since it is a ray, I didn't feel too bad about keeping it a bit longer so I could read the first two books. I sent a PM to Dreamse22 yesterday so just waiting for her address and I will get it into the mail.

Edit Mar 9: PMed Dreamse22 again today. Hopefully there is not a problem with PM's.

I have been trying since mid Feb to reach DreamSE22 by PMing, posting on ClubVlad and posting a ISO on the bookcrossing forums. Noone seems to have any information about her current status so I am going to stop trying. This book is going up on BookMooch as available.
