Journal Entry 1 by jeniwren from Greigs Flat, New South Wales Australia on Sunday, March 19, 2006

Short listed for the Man Booker Prize in 2003. 'Fascinating, brilliant , horribly addictive' according to the cover blurb and I agree. A great read about obsession and loneliness with a subtle tone of evil and nastiness.

Journal Entry 4 by beehilary on Sunday, July 23, 2006
Caught the book on a table in the foyer at Pambula. Found the story gripping, if not a little unnerving. The structure of flashback and the use of first person was a compelling device. The detachment of the narrative created a disturbing distance from the ominous reality, like a Stanley Kubrick film.

Journal Entry 5 by AnonymousFinder on Friday, August 25, 2006
Journal entry 5 anon.Inverloch Victoria 25/9/06 Had the book sent to me from Pambula NSW. The book sent me on a roller coaster of emotions from what seemed naivety to sheer stupidity yet I can see how it could happen. Sometimes wanting to stop reading because I felt like I was prying, but unable to put it down. I am passing it on to a friend hungry for a good read.
