Sent to me as an Amazon suprise by my friend Liz (after her visit in March 2006)
What a wonderful, but bizarre, odd and baffling book! Owen Meany is one of those characters who is impossible to forget, he will certainly live on in my head :-) A completely engrossing story.
Favourite Quotes:
"She was a passionate reader, and she thought that reading was one of the noblest efforts of all; in contrast, she found writing to be a great waste of time - a childish self-indulgence, even messier than finger painting - but she admired reading, which she believed was an unselfish activity that provided information and inspiration." p.271
"It was Owen Meany who taught me that any good book is always in motion - from the general to the specific, from the particular to the whole - and back again. Good reading - and good writing about reading - moves the same way." p.340
