Lent to a friend after lots of book talk :)
Got it back from wandererjen (who I'd forgotten I lent it to), and then took the time for a re-read on the back deck. I realize that in the summer, I like to sit on the deck in the sun and read "lite" books, as discussed in this forum thread.
Anyway, this was one of the original chick lit books I ever read, along with Good in Bed, and they were both so good, I became an instant fan of the genre. I have since realized they are not all created equal, but these two books do still hold a soft spot in my heart.
So it was interesting to re-read this one, as a lot of time has passed since my first reading. I have to admit, I wasn't quite as captivated by it the second time around. I still really like it, but some of the wild things that were just shocking the first time became truly unbelievable this time. The Boss is more of a charicature than I thought, etc., etc.
I'm a fan of this book, though, and recommend it to anyone who has ever worked for a big corporation, a Boss Who Assumes Too Much, an ultra-type A personality boss, etc., etc. The only people I know who didn't "get it" were those people who'd never really worked in the business world.
I'm also thrilled that the movie version of this is coming out shortly, and can't wait to see it.
Anyway, it's now on its way to the lovely yabookmaven (who in my head is Yaboo Bookmaven, and I can never find when I search the site), who offered me Pilgrim at Tinker Creek from my wish list.

I received this book today from Antof9. I have a couple library books waiting to be read then I can read this one and pass it along.
Well ... I'm a punk and totally forgot to journal on this fun little book that was given my by Antof9 . This was my first run-in with chicklit and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
It's not high-quality literature, but it's good entertainment (in the same category pop music and romantic comedies). The characters are interesting and well-written ... each one a bit extreme in his/her signature personality trait. The story moves along naturally (although at the end of a chapter devoted entirely to the main character improving her wardrobe, I found myself thinking, "Does this story have a plot? I can't remember ..."). Surprisingly, the lack-of-plot didn't bother me ... the characters and situational comedy were enough to carry the book.
40 pages into it, I was feeling quite frumpy and laughable in my Gap trousers and Express t-shirt. Fortunately, I live in Colorado, where jeans, sandals, and tanks are the norm. But now I know what to where if I'm ever in NY.
Returned to Ant, who has already passed it on. She's so generous! ;)

This was an enjoyable summer read. I have just finished it today and will make it available to another BXer, since the movie has just come out and put the book on the NYT's paperback best seller's list.
yabookmaven was very nice to mail this book to me. I can't wait to read it! Thanks a bunch!!
I really enjoyed this book. I think I'll see if there is any interest in putting it out there for a bookray.

The book was first realeased by Antof9 (as other people have written) but I received it from missprisy yesterday as long as promised to join bookcrossing (she barely had to twist my art - I've been meaning to join for a while, what with all the fun missprisy's been having). I'm excited to read it! In fact, perhaps I'll start right now.
(added) Aug. 22 - Truly a delightful summer read. It is a page turner and got me through many fantastic workouts on the bike at the gym. I'm sending it to ToXiCKiTTiKiSS next because she appears to be next on the bookray.

Received and will get to as soon as possible. I have 4 other rings/rays too, so will read as quick as I can =)
So sorry I had this book for this long. Was an interesting book, but I just couldn't read it til the end. Couldn't really get into it right now. Will send to ChicagoCubs2000 when I receive an address.
I got this book from a book ring here on Book Crossing. I'm very excited to read it. I'm glad it got here so quickly! It was mailed on Jan. 7th and got here Jan. 10th. I'll have it back in the mail soon. I'll post when I am through with the book.
Sorry it took so long to register. I have fallen a little behind in my bookrings. Reading Midnight's Children took longer than I thought! I will begin reading this soon!
It looks as though this bookray maybe stalled. Bluestocking88 has offered up her copy to keep the ray moving. Here is the url.
