I got this book from a used bookstore online and it arrived last night.

Note: this book will fill the slot for a book by an author from Cameroon in my attempt at the "Olympic Challenge" - reading books from all 202 countries that participate in the Olympics in 2 years.

I enjoyed reading this book. It has a very colonial feel to it. I will have to look to see what date it was published, as I hope that the attitudes portrayed here are not still prevalent.

My only big issue with the book is that it's supposed to be in the form of diary or journal entries, but the story doesn't feel to me like someone's diary or journal. I have a hard time imagining someone writing in this style to a journal.

I'm glad to have read it. I think there's another copy or two circulating among the folks in the Olympic Challenge, so I'll have to think of another way to pass it on to other interested readers.
