According to the dust jacket, this is a stormy love story that sweeps across the ancient world of the 8th century before Christ.

This hardcover book is in good shape. I bought it at my local library's yearly book sale, because it looks interesting and I thought I'd use it if I enter the animal challenge again.

The author is Irish, and I'm glad to have it as one of the to-be-read books to start me off on my Olympic challenge of reading books from 202 different counties.

I enjoyed this book. It's set in ancient Austria and the Russian steppes, and focusses on the journeys of a young Celtic woman who finds herself caught between the two cultures. It's not focused on some misty-eyed romantic tryst, but on the consequences of impetuous decisions of young people striving to come of age and find their places in their worlds.
