Reading "Lolita" in Tehran: A Memoir in Books

"A memoir about teaching Western Literature in revolutionary Iran, with profound and fascinating insights into both. A masterpiece." - Bernard Lewis, bestselling author of The Crisis of Islam
I enjoyed this book, in which the author describes her experiences as a professor at the University of Tehran and a period after she left the University. I would have enjoyed a little more breadth of insight into the broader culture of Iran, more than the focus on the Western Literature she was teaching. I'm not a student of literature, and thought she got bogged down in that subject a little. Still, I recommend this book. I've finished it and I'm passing it to my husband to read.
Note: this book is filling the slot for a book by an author from Iran in my attempt at the "Olympic Challenge" - reading books from all 202 countries that participate in the Olympics in 2 years.
The author was born & raised in Iran, but subsequently came to the US. If I find a book where the author has remained in Iran, I may replace this on the list.
