I bought this from the fleamarket of Päijät-Häme Humane Society yesterday. Cover of my copy is different.

After a long absence former detective Nick Charles returns to New York with his new wife Nora and their dog, Asta to spend a Christmas and New Year. Nick re-connects with many of his old cronies, several of whom are quite eccentric characters. He's also approached by Dorothy Wynant whose father Clyde Wynant is suspected of murder. Nick isn't all that keen on working in his old profession or having anything to do with Wynant family but soon notices that he's very much involved in the case.

I've seen the movie version of The Thin Man and liked it a lot. The book is even better.

Left-overs from the Cable Factory. Will ask if my work mate wants to read it, there is a Schnauzer and a detective after all... And it got praised by the previous owner. Had to peep and see where the book has been for the last six years, but it has had a rather stable life.

This was a funny book. Unintentionally funny, as it was written in a time when men were steel but had no cell-phones...
