This book is being registered and released today, Feb 17, in honor of the anniversary of Chaim Potok's birth in 1929. This is a sequel to Potok's best-known novel, "The Chosen". Like most of Potok's novels it is about young people struggling with their faith in the modern world.

"'You are attracted to Abraham Gordon's ideas, Reuven? They are very radical ideas.'
'I'm only curious.'
'Yes, I can see you are.'
'He asks very good questions. I don't like his answers. But he asks some very important questions.'
He smiled."

This mass-market copy has the same picture shown here, but the cover has gotten damaged. It's no longer pretty, but the book is otherwise in reasonable condition - ready to find several more readers!

I ran an RABCK contest as part of my Potok-fan commemoration of Chaim Potok's birth, and bestfriends wrote a great forum post for it. So the book was mailed to her today. [It went second-class mail, so could take a couple of weeks to arrive.]

Thanks, bestfriends, for being a part of my "Potok Day" observance!

Found the book in good condition in my mailbox today, so it took only 10 days by economy mail to get here.

I'm looking forward to reading it. After which I will see to it, that it gets to someone who will appreciate it, rather then wild release it.

Thanks Potok-fan!

I kept my promiss, to read "The Promiss" before the end of October ( a challenge started in the Dutch forum , to read a book from your BC shelf during that month, which has been on MTBR for a long time).

Like when reading the sequel to "The Gift of Asher Lev", many years after the first book, I now was sorry that it again had been such a long time ago that I read "The Chosen". I did not remember much from the story about Danny and Reuven.

I rather enjoyed it, but not as much as other books by Chaim Potok. I found it a bit slow in places. Also: What never seemed to bother me before, but now did, was my lack of knowledge about orthodox religion versus more liberal jewish points of view. Well, I finished it and will see to it that it continues its travels. Thanks again Potok-fan.

I plan to release this in the wild in the Dutch (university) town of Maastricht, which I believe is "international" enough to take the chance that someone will find it who can read English.
