Journal Entry 1 by KateKintail from Burke, Virginia USA on Thursday, February 16, 2006

This is an original novel based on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television show. It's Willow-centered and looked like a quick, enjoyable read so I bought it at a library book sale. I probably won't want to keep it around to re-read it, though, so I'm going to register it here to encourage myself to pass it on when I'm done.

Journal Entry 2 by KateKintail from Burke, Virginia USA on Sunday, April 22, 2007
I just finished reading this last night. For what it was- a short novel based on the television series, I loved it. The characters were very in character and the format was comfortingly familiar- it seemed like any adventure you'd see on the show. It's definitely a fun book, packed with everything from humor to prophetic dreams to a number of fight scenes. It's set when they're in high school, before Angel heads to LA, and while Oz is around as Willow's boyfriend (i.e. early in the series). The basic plot revolves around a selkie Willow finds and takes in after an oil spill. Thanks to Buffy's nightmares about drowning and her distrust of things not human, there's some tension building from the decision to help the selkie return to the ocean. But then when people- and vampires- start dying, they realize something must be done. I'm going to put this in my permanent collection for now because I received as a RABCK another copy to BC with, and because there's a passage or two I love and would like to re-read :-)
