April Morning
1 journaler for this copy...
I haven't read this yet.
I bought it because it's about the Revolutionary War and, more specifically, April 19, 1775. April 19th happens to be my birthday, so I intend to read it before then and release it in honor of my birthday. It was great fate finding this book in a library sale for ten cents :-)
This book apparently originally belonged to a man named Raymond who lived in Rhode Island. But it made it down to a library in Burke, VA somehow.
Short description from the inside: A novel about one of the most glorious days in American history, a book for everyone- everywhere!

So many rotten things have happened on my birthday... including the shot heard round the world. But I found it fascinating to read this story about a young boy named Adam caught up in the middle of the battle. The story spans one day, during which the characters' world changes so very drastically.
The author did a beautiful job of controlling the mood, and of painting a vivid picture of the culture of that time and place in history. It was a tad more religious than I tend to like to read, but that was such a big part of the culture and really helped me understand the characters and their situations/decision-making.
This is a short book, but it was very enjoyable to me- especially because of my personal connection with the date. I'm glad I took the time to read it.
