Jack Miner and the Birds
1 journaler for this copy...
Jack Miner, 1865 - 1944, studied and protected birds and attracted them to nest on his property. Driven by curiosity about where his friends went, he invented bird banding and gathered information about where the birds migrated. He learned to read in his thirties and wrote two books.
By the time he died, he had banded more than 50,000 wild ducks and 40,000 wild geese. The Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary is still open and is free to the public.
