One of a collection obtained from friends yesterday, thankyou. This one does not appeal to me but my husband will certainly want to read it.

Well he started it, then realised that he had already read it, some years ago! So now available and will release or something soon.

Offered this book today on www.bookrelay.com so hopefully it will be travelling soon.
A murder story written in 1996! Why no interest?

Accepted this off the relay at the same time as The Fifth Woman, which was also on offer from LindyLouMac. I hope I saved her some postage costs in being able to combine two parcels into one! :-)

This book will probably sit on the TBR shelf until I need reading material for a long plane or train journey... and then I will be very glad to have it on hand!

I'm leaving on Wednesday for a work trip to Spain, and this book is coming with me. If I finish it while I'm there, I'll leave it behind, and make release notes when I get back.

I read this on the plane on the way home, and then finished it this evening. Ok, but not great is my verdict. Certainly it helped to pass the time on the flight. But there was a little too much of people ignoring their instincts at the beginning: Again a danger signal flashed at the back of his mind. He dismissed it... (p.7). Come on! He's a professional spy (or whatever his job really is), and he keeps ignoring these "danger signals"? He shouldn't make it to the middle of the book alive.

Moreover, I really couldn't figure out why they didn't *all* figure out ways to lose Eve already there in the first part of the novel. Then again, (select to read spoiler text in white): Within a very short time I had been thoroughly convinced that she was a "baddie" and had no need for all the extra convincing at the end of the book (presumably there to prepare me for her death): It never occurred to her that she was responsible for his grisly death; Conscience had never kept Eve Warner awake; Never coddle the staff was her motto; Eve was more concerned with putting on her trenchcoat when she should have been sitting with her seat-belt fastened (oh please); and so forth ad nauseum. Ok, we get it already. Oh yes, and that trenchcoat will be the death of her (ok- that I hadn't quite seen coming. I couldn't figure out why such a big deal was being made of it).

Also interesting were the political evaluations, now presumably somewhat dated, about what would be wrong with a European Union, and why the internet is so dangerous. All in all, worth having in a carry-on bag, but otherwise I can't really recommend it. To be honest, it's been more fun picking it apart than it really was to read. :) Still, thank you to rosedene and LindyLouMac for bookcrossing this - and I'll see that it gets passed on to another reader or wild-released.
