This is a harrowing story of an unwanted Chinese daughter. Adeline Yen Mah tells of her early childhood and the suffering she was subjected to by chiefly her step mother, but others in her family too. The book tells a lot of the history of China and Hong Kong during the cultural revolution.

I found the book at Eden Court Theatre, Inverness two/three weeks ago and have just finished reading it . After a slow start , I found the book extremely moving and gripping and couldn't wait to get to the end. Other members of my household would like to read it too, so in about two/three weeks I shall get in touch to let you know ehere I have left it.
