How it works:
  • If you wish to be added to the list, please PM me with your details.
  • We will kick off once we have 5 members.
  • You will be sending the book to the person who appears after you in the list, so you need to PM them to get their address!
  • It's not a race, but please read and send the book on as speedily as you can, other people are dying to read it too.
  • Please journal the book once you have received it (so we all know where it currently is) and again when you have read it (so we know what you thought of it!)
  • If you're the last person on the list (i.e. we run out of members) the book comes back to me until there are more interested parties...

Amazon Synopsis

The story of a girl who needs to slow down. To find herself. To fall in love. And to discover what an iron is for...Samantha is a high-powered lawyer in London. She works all hours, has no home life, and cares only about getting a partnership. She thrives on the pressure and adrenalin. Until one day...she makes a mistake. A mistake so huge, it'll wreck her career. She walks right out of the office, gets on the first train she sees, and finds herself in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she is mistaken for the interviewee housekeeper and finds herself being offered the job. They have no idea they've hired a Cambridge-educated lawyer with an IQ of 158 - Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. Disaster ensues. It's chaos as Samantha battles with the washing machine...the ironing board...and attempts to cook a cordon bleu dinner. But gradually, she falls in love with her new life in a wholly unexpected way. Will her employers ever discover the truth? Will Samantha's old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back?

Journal Entry 4 by mellowdaisy on Wednesday, July 5, 2006
Received this in the post today, thank you very much AliceF for starting the ring! I hope to get to this one as soon as I can, I have two and a half ring books before it though!

Journal Entry 5 by mellowdaisy on Saturday, July 15, 2006
I still haven't started this book as I have a couple before it but I did pick up a load of books from Freecycle the other day and a copy of this was included. I'll send this on now to save holding up this ring any longer and I'll read the copy I've got once these rings stop arriving!

I have PMed miriamsemail for an address so can hopefully get this off soon. Thanks again to AliceF for including me in the ring.

UPDATE 27/07/06: I have miriamsemail's address and a big enough envelope so I will get this in the post soon, probably Monday now!

This book arrived in the post this morning, just as I'd finished reading a book and was debating what to read next! In a summer holiday where I have nothing to do but concentrate on housework (and studying, but let's not mention that!) this sounds like the ideal book to read. And I'll try to post it on before the change in mail costs, as well ;-)

What can I say? This book was predictable and simplistic. And I loved it!

I was hooked right from the beginning, when we first met Samantha at a destressing session, trying to hide the mobile phone she smuggled in, and declaring that she thrived under pressure, something I always feel applied to me.

Then she made a silly mistake, the sort of mistake I'm always terrified of making, and walked out, and found herself a whole new life.

I even found myself inspired to get up and do some housework in the middle of this book ;-)

I guessed the ending, and it did seem as if she learnt to cook and clean rather quickly, but all the same it was a great escapist read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a while since I've been in a position to devour a book like this.

I'll be passing it on as soon as I have an address. Thanks for sharing!

Received this morning by post. Thanks to Loopy for sending it and to AliceF for setting up the Book ring!

On holiday for 2 weeks so hope to get to it soon.

I started this book yesterday and finished it this morning! It is pure indulgent Chick Lit and I enjoyed it. Sometimes you just want something that you can speed through and enjoy. Obviously it had a happy ending and I guessed what would happen, but it was a nice read to give your brain a break! lol

Emailed last night for an address so will pass on as soon as I receive it.

Thanks for sharing this AliceF!

I started off enjoying this, then just got impatient with the story, you know what's going to happen, so just get on with it already.
Finally decided I should just give up on chick-lit forever!! I've got a far more tempting Mt.tbr to get through.
I'll pass this on to Alice when I next see her.
