From DC Comics:
"In this suspenseful noir crime story, Tom McKenna is a simple family man who instantly becomes a media celebrity when he takes down a couple of wanted murderers who attempt to rob his diner. But his newfound fame draws the attention of a group of merciless mobsters who have been looking to settle a score with McKenna for over 20 years. Now as the killers descend upon his small town in Middle America, the Brooklyn native must face the actions of his youth and relive his past history of violence as he attempts to salvage the life he has built."
From me:
I can't really be a fan of this kind of simplistic art, although i have to admit this one wasn't bad at all, and i didn't get the feeling of "deja vu" until i saw my dad browsing the book with such interest, you see, this is very reminiscent of those old B&W pulp crime and western comics he is such a huge fan of. That said the story is amazing, a true page turner, i highly recommend it. With or without B&W Simplistic Art :)

What a page turner!

I really like this kind of graphic novels that compels the reader to read more and more and…I like stories that have something to do with real life and this story, more or less, could be happening somewhere in the world.
I haven’t seen the motion picture but I’ll be certainly doing that very soon.

Thanks for another one Beg.

I enjoyed reading it a lot. Such a realistic portrait of a small american town in which lives the typical american family. But only in appearances. Reminded me some of David Lynch's films, namely, Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, but without all the freakish elements, just the violence. The story of Tom McKenna and his past is engrossing and John Wagner never lets the reader down, but I was expecting an ending with a much darker edge to it. I guess it depends whether you're expecting an ending that relies upon traditional conventions or not.
It is still a riveting and well-paced story and makes me look forward very much to the motion picture.
