Sent me by a PaperBackSwap member, and I have sent it on again. I usually keep all the books by this author that fall into my hands, but this one is different--not humorous. In fact, some of the stories, while well-written, are so bittersweet or painful that I could hardly read them. As an animal lover, I wish I had not read the one about the boy and his dog at all; I keep reminding myself that it is not a true story, but then the thought occurs to me that a similar thing must have happened to a number of other children and their pets.
