I think, this is a brilliant book! It's not an easy read, there's so much information in it. It took a while to digest all the information packed into the 'comic' strips - great edutainment. 'Korea Unmasked' did not only give a lot of information on Korea but also on its (direct) neighbours China and Japan. The only part where I really got lost was the chapter about language/alphabet/signs. Anyway, it was worth reading! Thank's a lot for starting the ring, bybee. I already pm'ed Hendertuckian for her address a few days ago but didn't get an answer yet. As far as I know she is or has been off the internet due to building work. so this may take a while. I'll keep you updated, bybee :) Edit 20.3.06: I sent 'Korea Unmasked' off to hobbit to the US today. Sometimes mail between Germany and the US is extremly slow, so this may take a while!

I got the book in today's mail. Thanks, sheepseeker, for the beautiful postcard. I'm excited to read this, and it comes at a perfect time as I've just this morning finished the book I was reading so I'll start it right away. Edit, April 3, 2006: I finished this book and thought it was great. I feel like I know a lot more about Korea and Korean culture than before I read it. I particularly liked the way that the author compared and contrasted Korean history and culture with other nations - it made it more meaningful and easier to grasp. And I felt that he tried hard to not be biased, but to show some of both the positives and negatives. I just heard from Hendertuckian this morning, and she asked to be skipped. Since there's no one else on the list, I'll contact the ring owner to see what to do. Edit, April 3, 2006: As directed by bybee, I've offered to extend this ring - I posted on the Olympic and 5-5-5 Challenge threads. I'll make a list of responders here to form the extended ring. I'll give it a few days for people to answer, then send it along. The next part of the ring: Abecedarian, USA Alvhyttan, Sweden bybee, South Korea

I took this to the post office yesterday, and it's now on its way to Abecedarian. Sorry for the delay in sending it out - my parents were here visiting for 2 weeks over the Easter/Passover holiday. They've gone now and I'm catching up on my own stuff.

It's here, at last, came in the mail today after almost three months of travelling from Kansas to Sweden. The "Bubble Mailer" was quit damaged but the book is fine. It looks like a great book; I really look forward to read it.

Journal Entry 9 by Alvhyttan from Nora, Västmanland Sweden on Friday, September 08, 2006

Finally finished this book, it took some time. It looked like an easy read, but as Sheepseeker said “It took a while to digest all the information…”. It was a very interesting book, I learnt a lot about Korea. Took some photos of the book, with my Korean doll and a fan from Korea (bought by my husband when he visited there), among some of my pelargonium’s. Now it will travel back to bybee.
