A touching tale of abuse told through the voice of the abused wife and one of the most surprising things about the book is that it was written by a man. But in the midst of its emotion, that's so very easy to forget!

Many apologies, I'm dreadfully behind on BC admin due to work, being away, etc, etc. Book safely received.
I found this a rather depressing read. I know there are many people caught in hopeless situations from which they cannot emerge, but it would have been good if the author had allowed his protagonist a realistic way forward, in order to give hope and motivation to readers who may perhaps be in a similar situation.

Received as a RABCK from tehuti. Thank you ever so much!
This definitely isnot an uplifting story! How miserable can one woman's life get? The story moved me very much. Chapters 25 and 26 were almost too difficult for me to read. Never have I seen an abusive relationship described so well. It is indeed amazing that this novel was written by a man!
There is a sequel to this novel, simply called Paula Spencer, in which Paula's life is decribed eight years after the events in The Woman Who Walked Into Doors. I plan to read that one as well.

Sent by mail to Meg615. Enjoy!
one of the 2 books I nicely received Today, thanks
It took me time to read this book as it was a really touching story. To write a story as a victim poin of view was really interesting and well done. Some questions do not get answer in this story but it makes it even more "real".
