first book of the Southern Vampire Novels, very nice read! I like Sookie Stockhouse, a sweet character. The story is tensefull and slightly erotic, just a perfect mixture of everything. I am already looking forward to the sequels.

I caught the book at the meet up in Mainz. Sounds funny!
Perfect easy reading for a lazy summer day! Although I suspected pretty soon who the serial killer is, I gorged the whole book like a thirsty vampire would do a fresh blood bottle. A wonderful blend of mystery, fantasy, romance and absurdity, including a verisimilar explanation for some Memphis singer sighting stories! :-D
I feel confident this was not the last story by Charlaine Harris I read.
ekaterin4luv has already evinced that she is strongly interested in this, so I'll send it to hers as the first station of a bookray:

Got it, read - no devoured it. Delicious!
Some fluff, some angst and some mystery, a good combination. A small town story with a twist. You just have to like Sookie and the mysterious Bill. And what would you do when facing a vampire visit? Would you sharpen your wooden stakes, polishing your silverware, stock up on garlic or would you rather clean your carpets? ;)
The story has just one major drawback - there's more of it!
I'll contact SaschaBWK right away.

The book arrived yesterday, in time for my holiday. More later.
After some more or less disappointing vampire stories I enjoyed this book enourmosly. Just what I needed for a long ride on a train.
Sookie is a likabel heroine and I would love to read more about her.

I've collected the book yesterday from the local "Packstation". Thanks for sending and thanks for the ring. There are two rings to finish first before I can start with this one.
Sorry for the late entry, it's been some time since I finished the book but I don't seem to come to grips with my desk, or rather the work on my desk, or rather with dealing with the load of books that are under the pile of work that's sitting on my desk...
Well, I really liked this rather tongue-in-cheek-Southern-Vampire-novel. I like Sookie a lot, she seems to be a... well, not actually a "nice" person, but one I'd like to meet. I don't care too much about Bill himself, but, hey, not every vampire can be as thrilling as... hmm, now I'm stuck for an example... as one imagines. Eric's more like it. But would I want to go out with him either? Don't think so.
Thanks for introducing me to a very entertaining series (I actually had to buy the followers-up for myself...;-)) and as soon as I'll get Gracies address Sookie and Bill will travel on.

Arrived today, thanks -aoirghe-! Since I already read the second volume of this series, I am looking forward to learn how everything started.

Journal Entry 11 by delfinnetti from Netphen, Nordrhein-Westfalen Germany on Wednesday, May 16, 2007
The book arrived safe and sound. I´m glad it arrived now, so I can read the books in the appropriate order (part two arrived a week ago).
Thanks a lot for the ring and the mailing of the book.

The poor book has become a casualty of the big BC-Meetup in Frankfurt! No don´t worry all the pages are still attached and it is still perfectly readable. It just collided with a banana in my backpack. Ther is a slight blot on the upper hind coner of the spine and while beeing wet the cover ripped for about 1 cm. I will use the self - adhesive foil from ekz with delayed adhesion as first aid measure and hope the book will still be acceptabel to read. I´m very sorry, I don´t usually treat books with anything but kindness and care.

Content:
Vampires came out of dark hiding places to claim their place in public life, social life and politic. They are not widely accepted but there is a law that gives them the same rights as everyone... They can even apply to vote. That dose of corse not mean that they are all the nice and law abbiding kind. And even those who seem to be all right are allways close to the edge of law or even on the other side. They have ages of practise in decivinig human kind. Some try to fit in and some don´t...
It was a nice read without much complications.

On it´s way to baltruma since yesterday! Thanks a lot for the captivating bookray. I´m quite interested in how the storry continues.
What a fun, though it was kind of creepy sometimes, it certainly belongs to my favourites at all! REALLY LOVE IT!
Nice read but not as thrilling as I expected. Sometimes the story/settings reminded me of a mixture of Buffy, the last 2 seasons and Mad Max. Partly the characters (especially Bill) tended to be a little bloodless (what irony *gg*). I had the feeling that a second (third,...?) book was already planned when Harris wrote this first story - for example: why would Bill hate the Bellefleurs?!? There's no explanation. Maybe Harris will tell us in the second novel. And last: the storyline with Bubba/Elvis was ridiculous and so not needed!!! But it seems to be the bad habbit of vampire-storytellers - this compulsion to add something funny (Mary Janice Davidson writes too much about women and shoes...)
I'm not sure if I will collect the Sookie-series by myself (I realized that I bought the 4. book years ago, but it's unread till now - maybe because it's in German and the language/translation(?) is quite poor), but I surely wan't to read them all!
If my former readers are interrested in stories with a variability of supernatural characters (vampires, shapeshifters, lyches, angels, weres,...) in a non-fantasy-world, I recommend everything written by Nancy A. Collins - first of all the Sonja Blue Collection (a trilogy about the vampire Sonja who seeks her maker to destroy him - not that much romance but more gory)
Since there are no more other readers, the book will go to my best friend who loved the stories of Anne Rice and then maybe to my sister - canceled

Endlich geschafft!

Found this BookRing in the mailbox today and I'm looking forward to reading it.
13/02/2008: I enjoyed reading this book quite a bit and it made a couple of things clearer, which I read in the third part of this series Der Vampir, der mich liebte (German). Maybe some day I learn to read books in the right order. ;-) Now I'm looking forward to reading the one which belongs in between... Living Dead in Dallas before I will send the first two on...
14/02/2008: Will travel on to Schneefee today!

started in Gent and finished in Edinburgh, this little story reminded me a lot of the Mercy-Thompson-Novels. At first, I didn't really like it coz Mercy is a wee bit smarter than Sookie is, but I started to really love her very soon :-)
Sookie is now ready to travel on to Leipzig, if susiuni wants to.

Interesting story with really sad moments in the life of sookie.
I didn´t like the concept of shapeshifting in a vampire novel. Already I love the characters of X-Men: Logan the wolf, Gene the thelepath and Mystique the shapeshifter. For ther first book there were to much supe´s.
All the way a funny story.
I´m ready for the 2nd book.

An interesting start into the series and to me an enjoyable read.
I like Sookie and Bill and I'm looking forward to see how their relationship develops. From the minor characters I liked Sam a lot and hope I'll see more of him.
Now onwards to the second book.
