I'm a bit disappointed actually. She is regarded so highly - maybe my expectations were just too high. It's not that she didn't have good characters - but I found the book quite dull. So I am passing it on. Maybe someone else will really enjoy it. It's available for the asking.
Sending this book off to Stormin' today. Hope you enjoy it!
Found this in the postbox when I got home today! Thank you ever so much bookbabe71! You made me very glad!
The book will go into Mount TBR to start with....

Not quite my "cup of tea" although most of the novels were readable, picturing everyday life somewhere in the midfifties. But no highlights though...
This book will be released at Capasca in Stockholm next week.
Journal Entry 7 by lukutuoli from Tampere, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Saturday, October 20, 2007
I made a sea cruise to Stockholm and visited OBCZ Capasca to release a couple of books there. The bookshelf was really something!!! I couldn't resist taking some books with me to Finland. This Munro was the best thing for me: I have been hunting for books of Munro for several months, but there are none of them available in Finnish second-hand-shops. And now this one was waiting for me in Stockholm :) I suppose there are some other BCers in Tampere, who wish to read this book after me.
EDIT 061107
For some reason this book was a disappointment for me, too, I had just enjoyed a couple of other Munro's books, which I liked much better. However, there were interesting characters and pictures of everyday-life in these 13 little stories.
I feel I should read these stories again another time to see if I could concentrate on them better then. However, I want to let the book continue the journey and I decided to give it to a BC-friend as a part of the Finnish Christmas Challenge :) Happy Christmas!

I beg to differ with the previous readers, Something I've Been Meaning to Tell You is not a disappointment even if it's not the best Alice Munro either. But it's still very enjoyable read and I do like it very much. I'm repeating myself when saying this, but the strength of Munro lies in ordinary characters and commonplace situations she creates. Her protagonists are people you might meet in your family or neighbourhood, in your everyday life. And yet her stories are truly special. I read them with great pleasure.
Thank you so much for sharing it!

Edited to add that my favourites in this collection are How I Met My Husband and the closing story The Ottawa Valley. But I enjoyed all the other 11 ones too.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Enjoy, Askeladda!
Lucky me! Thank you so much, Tarna, for picking me the winner of you "one book a month RABCK for june"!
I have so much wanted to read Alice Munro after she won the Nobel prize, so it's great to be able to read her short stories, at last! I have never read anything by her, as far as I know, so I'm really looking forward to learn to know this author. Short stories are perfect to read during summer.
Thank you also for the Nice hand made bookmark! Inspiring the way you combine different elements into beautiful bookmarks.

It's here! Thank you so much for this RABCK, Askeladda.
I do enjoy Munro's writing, even if it appears there is not a huge amount happening in some of the stories.
