Back cover text:
In the heart of rural Botswana, the poverty-striken village of Golema Mmidi is a haven to exiles from far and wide. South African political refugee, Makhaya, and Englishman Gilbert Balfour join forces to revolutionise the villagers' traditional farming methods. But their task is fraught with hazards as the pressures of tradition, opposition from the local chief and the unrelenting climate threaten to divide and devastate the fragile community.

I'm planning on reading this book for the 5 Books, 5 Countries, 5 Continents challenge.

I finally got around to reading this book and did enjoy it very much. A tiny glimpse into an entirely different culture and a different world..

The book's copyright is 1969 and it was written by Bessie Head, who according to the back cover was born in South Africa but ended up in Botswana, much like the book's protagonist.

The book is now ready to release. Reserved for the 2012 Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Release Challenge which week 15 features April rain showers.
