Picked this up at a library sale for the 5 books, 5 countries, 5 continents 2006 reading challenge. It'll satisfy Spain.

I enjoyed this book right up until the very end. The mystery was good. The descriptions of the painting were very good and even though I'm not a chess player, I was able to follow the game. However, I do think it fell a little flat at the end. It just wasn't the satisfying ending I had hoped for.

I read this as part of a reading challenge and I'm glad I discovered the author. I'll probably read more of his stuff in the future.
