Ideally read on train journies to work, or perhaps lounging around on holiday, The Kremlin Device tells the story of a member of the SAS, Geordie Sharp, who is tasked with training his Russian equivalents with the skills to combat the Russian Mafia. This book sees Geordie Sharpe and an SAS team seconded to train an elite Spetnaz unit in anti-mafia warfare, and of course the western superpowers decide that it is an ideal opportunity to carry out some potentially deadly work under the guise of their training mission.

As usual, things don't quite go to plan and the team need to hastily devise a new one, calling on all their training and skills. If you've read the other two books before this one, you'll love it, and if you haven't you'll love it anyway!

The thing about Chris Ryan's work is that it is so full of detail (detail from his SAS training and experience no doubt), that it is hard not to be thoroughly absorbed into the action from the very beggining, and this book is no exception. The book is set at an excellent pace, with plenty of twists and turn, and enough detail to keep most would-be SAS troopers happy, all in all an excellent, easy read.

My only critism is the ending, which is the least plausible and satisfying part of the book!

Will definitely read more of his books in the future.
