Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries)
2 journalers for this copy...
I first read about this book here at BC. Then cathepsut
was so nice to offer the following novels to me. However, she didn't have the first one in the series, so I got this for myself... I mean, sometimes you just need an excuse to order something from amazon... LOL...
Will join the books on Mount TBR first, though.

Journal Entry 2 by Morgaine77 from Münchenstein, Baselland Switzerland on Saturday, January 28, 2006
I couldn't keep my fingers off this book for long, so I snatched it pretty fast from the TBR pile...
I loved it and I can hardly wait to get my hands on the next books in the series! Sookie Stackhouse (I mean, the name in itself is already fabulous!) is not a classic tough kick-ass girl. She's almost normal. And she's absolutely adorable in her naivite. I do suspect though that she will gain more powers and probably become tougher as the series continues.
There were a few passages in the book though that got to me emotionally and where I couldn't help but start crying. (somehow I do that quite often when reading a book and it gets emotional...). But there were also parts where I laughed out loud! I mean, the idea of the Vampire Bubba is just hilarious...
At some point I hoped Sookie would get together with Sam... But maybe that'll happen later?! I'll find out...
All in all, a great read!
From the backcover:
"Sookie Stackhouse is a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. She's quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn't get out much. Not because she's not pretty. She is. It's just that, well, Sookie has this sort of "disability". She can read minds. And that doesn't make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill. He's tall, dark, handsome - and Sookie can't hear a word he's thinking. He's exactly the type of guy she's been waiting for all her life...
But Bill has a disability of his own: He's a vampire with a bad reputation. He hangs with a seriously creepy crowd, all suspected of - big surprise - murder. And when one of Sookie's coworkers is killed, she fears she's next..."
